Iceni Projects secured unanimous support from Portsmouth City Council for the mixed-use redevelopment of the former Troxy Cinema site in Fratton.
The proposals will revitalise the site by providing 30 new homes, in buildings ranging from 2 to 4 storeys, as well as 365 sq. m of ground-floor commercial space. The application will now be subject to the developer and the Council agreeing the Section 106.
Iceni’s Planning, Heritage, Transport and Engagement teams worked together to pave the way for the successful outcome. Iceni demonstrated that the highly sustainable site is a strong location for new residential development, and that the sympathetic design approach will enhance the wider setting of Fratton Town Centre.
The detailed proposals were on the agenda for discussion at Portsmouth’s Planning Committee on Wednesday 8 February, having been recommended for approval in the officer’s report. This followed extensive dialogue with planning officers, statutory consultees, elected members and the local community.
Danielle St Pierre, Senior Planner at Iceni Projects, said:
“We are delighted to have secured planning approval for this high-quality scheme in Portsmouth. Here at Iceni, we continue to see first-hand the resilience of the UK’s residential market, and we are thrilled to be supporting growth in key regional centres across the country”.
