Landmark Paynes & Borthwick development to receive additional units
Iceni Projects has secured detailed planning permission and Listed building consent for additional residential units at the striking £100m Paynes & Borthwick riverside regeneration scheme in West Greenwich, on behalf of leading London developer United House.
Permission for the whole scheme was originally secured by Lane Castle, with plans approved for 247 residential units, 10 live/work units and 38,000 sq ft of art gallery, restaurant, commercial and retail space. The additional units have been facilitated by redesigning the use of internal space within a new tower which is attached to the retained façade of the original Listed Paynes Wharf building. Construction is well underway, with the first occupations expected in late 2013.
Les West, Planning Director at Iceni Projects, said: “This is a great example of sustainable development in action right in the heart of London, making use of space within building envelopes with the greatest degree of efficiency to create new homes.”
Shane O'Neill, development manager at United House said: “We have a strong track record in delivering bold, innovative new schemes and Paynes & Borthwick exemplifies this. When complete, it will provide a thriving new hub in the heart of this key regeneration area.”
